Storyline:

When Ella was twelve, she had her first fight. And when she was twelve, she discovered sex. Now eighteen, Ella reflects on how her obsession with her older brother Michael’s best friend Moses left her with a secret she still carries.

British filmmaker Dionne Edwards, who has loved film and television since childhood, created a sensitive coming-of-age story that tells of more than Ella’s growing up. She takes up important issues such as sexual emancipation, social conventions and puberty itself in an environment that is strongly defined by gender stereotypes. This overall package keeps the tension from the start and surprises with its plot twist. Together with its very strong design, which has similarities with the Oscar winner “Moonlight” (2016), which was created at the same time, the short film “We love Moses” is a strong narrative cinema with very convincing actors and the right mixture of authenticity and artificial cinema reality.
