User review:
So, I was reminded to write something about this lovely short film after it won (another) award, this time at the Chicago children’s’ film festival.
Although it hasn’t left the festival circuit yet, I can tell you you’re in for a real treat. A poignant study of youth, young confidence and striking out into the world, you really feel for this boy who – self-conscious and unsure – takes a literal leap into adulthood.
You can’t help but feel for him – shivering, sandwiched between hairy grown-ups, looking up with trepidation at the towering edifice he’s got to climb to impress a girl. I guess we’ve all been there.
This is a film that really feels like a million dollars – beautiful shots, high production values, and a lovely lido that I would love to visit on a sunny day. Anyway, watch it when you can.
