Storyline:
In medieval Germany, poor and witty Till Eulenspiegel fools and cheats citizens, churchmen, and landlords. Although in most cases he uses his wit for personal well-being, he often helps the poor and weak. Eventually, he gains an influential but also dangerous position as royal fool at the court of the emperor.
User review:
Although many people didn’t like the movie, in conversation I realized that the film touched everybody emotionally. Most people considered the movie one of the dark wave but the message appears to be more optimistic. There is a hope in worst times. The movie is categorized as a comedy, where Til Eulenspiedel excelled in his historical achievement. The comedy shall be funny. This comedy is mellow. It belongs more to the genre of historic films, like Caspar Hauser, by Wernher Herzog. As much as it falls in to history category, it is still contemporary. The chaos through which Til Eulenspiegel played the Spaniards resembles aggravation of our everyday’s life. Every event is symbolical. I wish, there were a DVD available. In my opinion, a milestone in film industry!!!!
