In Their Room Berlin 2011

Storyline:
The latest episode continues to voyeuristically document what goes on in the minds and bedrooms of urban gays. In Berlin, Mathews lingers on the tension and circular nature between intimacy and loneliness by documenting a handful of Berliners -some single, some coupled, some hooking up- over the course of one day.
User review:
In Their Room: Berlin by Travis Mathews is a documentary centered on the bedrooms of a group of homosexual men and in which they talk about relationships, intimacy, life in a big city in this specific case in Berlin or even where the we see in explicit sexual acts devoid of any barrier or taboo.
From a trilogy that beyond Berlin presents the same content in the cities of San Francisco and London, In Their Room presents itself as a documentary about the dilemmas of life a varied set of men who share only and exclusively their sexual orientation, but, in practice, it is nothing more than an almost forced record of what happens inside their rooms.
Exhibitionist enough and very little documentary about what could be a real life, because after all few or none will be those who spend days and days without end inside a single room, In Their Room gets lost in an exhibitionist and little documentary wandering that accomplished it. or he performs for just over an hour and which in practice is nothing more than a personal record of his sexual and erotic ideal and with which he intends to force the viewer to accompany him in his libidinous daydreams. actors beyond their almost extreme need to live alone free of any accomplice intimacy, however, those Mathews decides to follow in more detail are exactly those who openly declare that they do not intend to establish major bonds of intimacy beyond those necessary for the satisfaction of his own momentary sexuality and satisfying thanks to the most varied virtual channels, and which are, indeed, detailed with a precision that is unnecessary for those who claim to want to “record what happens in the individuality of each room”.
Thus, In Their Room : Berlin, and possibly the other two documentaries that make up the trilogy, is nothing more than an exhibitionist and somewhat voyeuristic record sist that the director proposed (and proposes to us), moving away from any documentary objective that would reveal to the viewer a serious look at said relationships, intimacy, sexuality and even the life of a sexual minority, limiting himself to establish itself in the domain of porno-chachada and a cold, dry exhibitionism, far from any feeling, being, in its essence, a “documentary” where everything is mechanical, programmatic and, above all, excessively unreasonable. p>
