A young shy teen meets a crazy and whimsical teen. Adapted from a novel, MY EXTRAORDINARY SUMMER WITH TESS is clearly a film directed very young teenager and to see with family.

From a book by Anna Woltz , a Dutch writer specializing in children’s books, the film follows the footsteps of two young teenagers in search of meaning: Tess seeks her true father while Sam seeks to understand the meaning of life and death.

Consistent in her narration and staging, MY EXTRAORDINARY SUMMER WITH TESS gradually develops her basic concerns through the lives of her protagonists. The conclusions are simple and common sense: not to be sad when people die, you have to collect their memories.

Also addressing the absence of the father, the importance of the biological father or loneliness, MY EXTRAORDINARY SUMMER WITH TESS sometimes lacks a bit of rhythm but holds despite all his promises of a family film with a simple message.
